Home addition construction in Boise, Idaho

New square footage framed and finished from the ground up, by a crew that ran a construction and restoration company for 14 years before DH Homes.

About this service

Home addition construction, the DH Homes way

Sometimes the kitchen or the family room needs more space than the house has. When that is the case, we build it. Home additions at DH Homes are framed, sheathed, roofed, and finished by our own crew, then tied into the existing house so the new room does not read as an add-on from inside or out.

Before starting DH Homes six years ago, the owners ran a construction and restoration company for 14 years. That background shows up on additions: foundations, framing, and roof tie-ins are handled with the same care as the cabinets that go in at the end. A recent Boise project added 1,200 square feet for a master bedroom and bath, including a new sewer main, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, with butternut beams in the bedroom and a custom walnut closet. It is on our case study page.

Questions

Home addition construction questions, answered.

The things Boise homeowners ask us most about this part of a project. More on the FAQ page.

What kinds of additions do you build?

Master suites, kitchen and family room expansions, and bump-outs that give an existing room the space it needs. If the addition is part of a larger remodel, that is where we are strongest.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes. We handle the permit process with the city or county and schedule inspections as part of the build.

How does an addition affect the price range?

Additions sit toward the upper part of our $25,000 to $1,000,000 range because you are paying for structure, roof, and exterior as well as the finished interior. We price the whole thing after the walkthrough and design.

Will the new part match the old house?

That is up to you and the design. Some clients want it to disappear into the existing house; others, like the stone and board and batten addition on this page, want it to read as a deliberate update. Either way, the tie-in is done right.
