Scope

What this project included

  • Master bedroom addition built onto the existing house, including a new master bathroom.
  • Existing secondary bathroom remodeled.
  • New flooring installed through the existing hallway and bedroom.
  • Curbless entry shower in the new master bath.
  • Grain-matched custom vanities, with push-to-open hardware on the master vanity so there are no pulls to interrupt the grain.

The master bath

A grain-matched walnut vanity and a curbless shower

The new master bathroom is anchored by a walnut vanity from the DH Homes shop. The grain is matched across every door and drawer front so it reads as one continuous slab, and the hardware is push-to-open, so nothing interrupts the wood. It carries a white quartz top with two undermount sinks, black wall-mounted faucets, black-framed mirrors, and brass double sconces.

The shower has a curbless entry: the dark hexagon floor tile runs straight in with no step. Walls are stacked vertical tile in soft white and grey, with a long niche, a black rain head on a wall arm, a black handheld on a slide bar, a fixed glass panel, and a narrow window above the niche for daylight.

The secondary bath

Green tile, a tub, and a white oak double vanity

The existing secondary bathroom was remodeled in a different direction: glossy dark green tile stacked in straight rows from the tub deck to the ceiling, a frosted window inside the wet wall, a brushed metal tub filler and handheld shower, a black towel bar, and a black-framed hinged glass panel in place of a curtain.

Across from the tub is a white oak double vanity with a full-height storage tower between the two sinks, black bar pulls, black widespread faucets, and two arched black-framed mirrors. The same dark hexagon floor tile as the master bath runs through this room.

The details

Custom cabinetry in two woods, one shop

Every cabinet in this project came out of the DH Homes shop: the grain-matched walnut in the master bath and the white oak in the secondary bath and the single floating vanity pictured here, with its brass faucet, oak ledge shelf, round mirror, and amber glass pendant.

New flooring was run through the existing hallway and bedroom so the addition and the original house meet without a visible transition.

Side by side

Two vanities, two woods, one shop

The master vanity is grain-matched walnut with push-to-open hardware. The secondary bath vanity is white oak with a center tower and black pulls. Both were built in the DH Homes shop for their rooms.
